For nearly 90 years, Guide Dogs has been providing support dogs for the blind and partially sighted in the UK. A crucial service for many, Guide Dogs helps thousands of people to enjoy more independent, fulfilling lives. The Brighton & Hove branch of the charity is powered by its incredible team of volunteers, including Wendi. One of the many people Wendi supports, had this to say about her:

‘I first met Wendi when she was introduced to me as a My Guide volunteer. We quickly became friends, and Wendi became a real lifeline for me. In time, Wendi also began helping with exercising my guide dog, Biscuit. Wendi is a very busy lady — she works and has a family, but she always finds time for me and Biscuit; sometimes she visits 3 times a week!

Wendi is an absolute star and we have a real laugh together — after taking Biscuit out we often go for a coffee together, or she will take me to a garden centre. She goes above and beyond her role as a volunteer, and is a real gem. Wendi is never down; she is always positive and upbeat. I want to thank her for her help and friendship, and to recognise her for the absolute star she is!’
