The pandemic has been a stressful time for many local families, including the parents at Hertford Infant and Nursery School in Brighton. Thankfully, three members of staff have gone above and beyond to offer crucial support to children and adults. They are Zoe McGuigan, Justine Harvey and Rachael Durneen.

During the first lockdown, Zoe, Justine and Rachael made sure that the school was kept open for both children with special needs and the children of key workers. They also worked hard to provide lifelines like food parcels, vouchers and emotional support to the most vulnerable families. And they made the school as safe as possible, while also making remote learning accessible too.

Although each of them have their own families and homes to look after, the school was always at the forefront of their minds. And while their practical help has been invaluable, their kind hearts have been the biggest gift. During this very challenging time, they have always been there to listen, help, guide, educate and advise others, often in their own free time. Many families in Brighton have benefitted from the hard work and compassion shown by these three incredible people when they needed it the most.
