Student and activist Matt Pritchard is fast becoming a leading figure for disabled rights in Brighton. As the elected part-time Disabilities Officer at the University of Sussex Student’s Union, Matt has already made a difference to many learners’ lives. From running incredible events to organising the Access Sussex accessibility campaign, he is known for his hard work and compassion.

Matt never fails to be a tireless advocate for disabled students. In 2020 alone he played a key role in organising Disability History Month; was chosen as a candidate for Councillor in the next local elections, and offered individual support to anyone who needed it.

Matt has led the way in improving accessibility around campus, including securing better parking for disabled drivers and raising awareness about invisible disabilities. What’s more, he also launched the innovative Scavenger Hunt for Accessibility and played an active role in the Affordable Housing Campaign.

Collaborating with both students and staff, Matt is a brilliant role model for anyone who wants to devote their life to fighting for a good cause. And on top of all of this, he is still finding the time to excel academically too.
